NISC Supports IDCE Hackathon

We are excited to be involved in the 2015 International Disaster Conference & Expo (IDCE) #DisasterTech hackathon (February 7-8) and conference (February 10-12).

The IDCE hackathon will facilitate the development of multiple platform-agnostic, open technology solutions to enhance public safety and disaster response collaboration, engagement, and decision-making. We will provide practitioner input through an introductory video describing the role that technology can play to better prepare, respond, and recover from an event.

For the IDCE Conference, the NISC Chair, Chief Charles Werner, will present as a panelist during the February 12 plenary session on “The Importance of Innovation in Disaster Technology.” The session will examine the use of social media for exchanging information with the public during disasters as well as using social media to enhance situational awareness for response organizations.
