#DisasterTech Hackathon: Innovative Solutions
On February 7 & 8, the NISC supported the IDCE #DisasterTech Hackathon, which facilitated the development of multiple platform-agnostic open technology solutions to enhance public safety and disaster response collaboration, engagement, and decision-making. The NISC provided practitioner input through an introductory video from our Chair, Chief Charles Werner, describing the role that technology can play to better prepare, respond, and recover from an event.
The hackathon judges will consider the solutions and winners will be announced on Wednesday, February 11. As a reward for their innovation, the top three participants and their solutions will be featured in an upcoming webinar hosted by the NISC. The winners will also be announced and publicized on the NISC website and in our communications materials so that our members can learn more about the recently-developed tools.
IDCE Conference & Expo
The #DisasterTech Hackathon has ended, but the International Disaster Conference & Expo (IDCE) runs through Thursday. On Thursday, February 12, our Chair, Chief Charles Werner, will be speaking at a plenary session: “The Importance of Innovation in Disaster Technology.” Follow the conference events on Twitter with the hashtag #IDCE15 and if you’re in New Orleans, stop by to catch some of the conference events!
