The NISC has partnered with the Capacity Building Webinar Series and the International Disaster Conference and Expo (IDCE) to broadcast the first 90 minutes of the #DisasterTech Hackathon. The broadcast will be available on a social collaboration space where you can connect and work with others throughout the conference. Join the webcast on Saturday, February 7, at 2pm Central/3pm Eastern to see hackathon participants exploring the use of social media in emergency preparedness, response, and recovery – with a goal of improving situational awareness. Ultimately the hackathon aims to develop new ways to help the public, volunteers, first responders, incident command, and the private sector make better decisions in a disaster more quickly. Virtual attendees of the Hackathon will be able to watch live and recorded presentations, participate in online discussions, network with fellow #DisasterTech innovators, and follow the progress of products developed at the event.
Three winners will be chosen from among the participants, and as a reward for their innovation, they will be featured in a NISC webinar where their work and ideas will be shared with interested stakeholders. The solutions developed by the winners will also be announced and publicized on the NISC website and so that first responders can learn more about the soon-to-be-developed tools.
